Markus Müller is the Chairman of Umcor – a global producer and trader of high quality metal products.
Markus Müller’s career
He has over 25 years of experience in setting up and operating trading companies and holdings in the non-ferrous metal markets, making him suitably qualified and experienced to excel in the role of Umcor Chairman.
Markus studied Economics at the University of Berne, where he found his passion for business development and international trade. His education led him to seek a career in international trading, which resulted in him working his way up to Director in a Swiss non-ferrous metal trading company in the nineties. From there he was motivated to create and lead Umcor, a global metals producing and trading company.
As Chairman of Umcor, Markus seeks to lead with vision, with an eye on the future and the past. He knows people are at the heart of Umcor, and seeks to provide a supportive, positive, and inclusive working environment for employees at all levels of the business and in every one of their global locations.
Markus Müller’s role as an industry leader
Markus is an active member in various non-ferrous metal organisations through Umcor’s group companies, attending events, talks and meetings to innovate and drive the industry forward. Through these organisations he works to champion sustainability, diversity, and fair trade in the industry globally, and push for progress both for Umcor and for the metals trading industry as a whole.
Marcus’ key skills and specialist areas include Business Development, International Trade, General Management and M&A. He speaks five languages: German, English, French, Italian and Russian, a great asset for global trade and management.
Markus is proud to have been able to participate in the founding, management, and development of the numerous companies of Umcor Group over a long period of time. His goal for the future is to continue to maximise on the great potential of the Umcor group of companies for the benefit of their clients, the broad industries they serve, and Umcor’s partners and employees.
